BOYS & GIRLS CLUB gets a hand from the

 KIWANIS CLUB OF SOUTH SARASOTA

Snacks of fruit juice and cookies were provided for the kids at the Boys & Girls Club in Sarasota, Florida yesterday.  Normally providing a hot lunch towards the end of the summer when the Boys & Girls Club budget for food runs out, the Kiwanis Club of South Sarasota donated snacks this time. 

There was no shortage for lunches this year for the summer program, so the Kiwanis Club donated an afternoon treat for the kids...Capri Fruit Juices and chocolate chip cookies.  Warren Hickernell, Past President of the Kiwanis Club of South Sarasota, said “the kids loved the treat, said Thank You, and some wanted to come back for seconds.  The Boys & Girls Club provides such a great atmosphere for these kids to socialize, learn and just play.  Our Kiwanis Club is pleased to do our little part to help.”

About ten of the members and also a Key Club member, a high school club sponsored by the Kiwanis Club of South Sarasota, participated in setting up a production line to open the boxes of cookies and drinks, put the napkins and plates together, add the cookies, then the drinks and get it on the counter for all the waiting kids.

“We kept up with them, preloading the plates in between the groups of kids coming through” said Warren.  In all, about 250 children were served that day, and the chocolate chip cookies were certainly a hit.
